The project is to honor and bring awareness to the rich history of feminism in the great State of Maine. We started a Pinterest board of some of a few people we know have made great contributions to women's equality! Beginning in 1785, Martha Ballard kept a daily journal that documented EVERYTHING in the daily life of her community as well as weather conditions, children she helped to deliver (she was a midwife in Hallowell) and her own personal financial accounts.
